The management of SM Supermalls is working with the Department of Health to ascertain the authenticity of certain messages circulating on social media and messaging apps regarding the “tracing of COVID-19 in commercial establishments including select malls.”
“We encourage everyone to engage with information only from the official government authorities and credible media outfits so as not to cause any undue public scare and confusion,” SM Supermalls management said in an official statement.
Early this week the mall chain already started implementing measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease. These measures include all mall-goers passing through thermal checks by security guards who, along with other mall personnel are required to wear face masks. Those with temperatures above 37.6 degrees celsius are not allowed to enter the premises and advised to seek medical help.
The mall also began installing sanitary alcohol dispensers at all entrances and sanitizing restrooms every thirty minutes.
