SM brings cheer to families and kids in evacuation centers

The SM Group went beyond its relief and recovery efforts in order to spread smiles and joy amid the disaster caused by the recent Taal Volcano eruption. In partnership with Toy Kingdom, SM gave out SM Bears of Joy and other kids’ toys to children in the evacuations centers in Batangas to make them a little happier.

Social media star and former reality-show celebrity Cheridel Alejandrino, who is more popularly known as #SMElevatorGirl, also visited evacuation sites in Batangas to entertain the evacuees and to help with SM Oplan Tulong Express medical mission and relief packs distribution last weekend.

“This is a difficult time for many Batangueños. A lot of them lost their homes, livelihood, and belongings. But what’s special about us, Filipinos, is our resilience and optimism. As we try to help them slowly get back on their feet, we also want to give them a reason to smile,” said SM Supermalls COO Steven Tan.

SM Prime Holdings, SM Supermalls, SM Cares, and SM Foundation Inc. have delivered over 23,000 kalinga relief packs and more than 2,500 6-Liter bottled water to evacuation centers and sorting site to over 50 towns and barangays in Batangas and now reaching centers in Cavite and Laguna. The relief packs contain contained bottled mineral water, rice, ready-to-eat meals, and instant noodles.

To those who want to donate, you may drop off your donations at the designated Oplan Tulong Express booths in 12 SM malls in South Luzon, namely Bacoor, Dasmariñas, Molino, Rosario, Trece Martires, Imus, Santa Rosa, San Pablo, Calamba, Batangas, Lipan, and Lucena.
