BAYER Consumer Health recently launched its new treatment, Bepanthen, in a bid to manage atopic dermatitis (eczema), a condition that makes one’s skin red and itchy.
While its signs and symptoms vary widely from person to person, eczema can be controlled through treatments and self-care measures. Environmental factors, irritants, allergens, or history of allergies are the factors of acquiring the condition.
Dr. Louie Lacno, Bayer senior medical advisor, said eczema is common in children but can occur at any age, and tends to flare periodically.
To prevent eczema, Lacno said one has to identify and avoid triggers that worsen the condition, choose mild soaps, and gently pat the skin dry with a soft towel, among other measures. Improving one’s emotional health can also help, he added.
Bepanthen’s Itch Relief Cream is a steroid-free cream that rapidly relieves itching and redness while promoting skin barrier restoration. It is suitable for skin irritations such as eczema, dry skin, atopic dermatitis, allergic reactions, and other skin inflammations.
Its SensiDaily Moisturizer, on the other hand, is a daily moisturizing cream that is specially formulated for extra dry, sensitive and eczema prone skin. It has a unique Derma Defense Formula that strengthens the skin barrier, helps to keep skin free from flare-ups, and provides long-lasting hydration.
It is also enriched with prebiotics that maintain healthy microflora, dexpanthenol that helps strengthen the skin barrier and provide long-lasting protection, lipid lamellar technology that supplements naturally-occurring lipids in the skin barrier, and physiologic moisturizers that help prevent extreme dryness of the skin and keep it moisturized for long periods of time.
These products have been clinically tested and are suitable for all ages, including infants and children. They are also hypoallergenic and free of fragrance, colorants, and preservatives.
Aileen Francisco, Bayer associate marketing manager, said more than just offering a regimen, what the brand provides is “liberation from the constant eczema battle.”
