Discovery Hospitality Corp. (DHC), the management company of award-winning properties such as Discovery Shores Boracay, Club Paradise, Discovery Suites Ortigas and Discovery Primea, boldly leads the country in workplace wellness though the launch of Laboral, labor wellness in the World of Discovery.

Partnered with GPA Brazil, a leading labor gymnastics company with 17 years of thought leadership in workplace ergonomics, DHC trailblazes ergonomic human exercise intervention focusing on work-from-home (WFH) challenges.

Labor Gymnastics, the primary product of Laboral, is a method to prevent or mitigate ergonomic workplace hazards through 15-minute exercises done within the existing work space, in one’s work clothes, within one’s physical limits at the start, during or end of a work day.

Laboral addresses challenges arising from work-from-home setup such as discomfort from back and neck strains, reduced daily natural movements, domestic distractions, anxiety over the pandemic, and costly employee engagement.

Compliant to the Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Act and aligned with the telecommuting regulations both passed in 2019, Laboral is a strategy to manage and impact productivity of employees, a preventive versus reactive health care, an engagement in a virtual and disconnected reality, and a culture of care and human sustainability.

“DHC introduces innovation by conducting sessions through video-conferencing tools like Zoom, to pro-actively find solutions to well-being issues of work-from-home and the new normal workplace,” said Jose Parreno Jr., DHC chief operating officer and Discovery World Corp. president.

The partnership with GPA Brazil on labor gymnastics completes the trio of new initiatives recently launched by DHC, which includes Safe Care, a partnership with Cardinal Santos Medical Center; and SAFE SPACE Disinfected by Lysol, a partnership with Lysol. All programs address occupational safety and health in the new workplace.
