Injecting color into elderly lives


    Sunshine Place continues to promote the well-being of individuals especially the elderly despite the mandated restrictions. The promotion of physical, mental and emotional health among its clientele is made possible with Sunshine Place’s online classes.

    Starting October until November, Sunshine Place will offer another four online workshops on watercolor painting. A therapy on its own, Art classes are beneficial for the development of cognitive functions such as imagination, creativity, motor and analyzing skills. Moreover, art lessens depression, anxiety and boredom.

    Each workshop will last for three hours from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The series of workshops is good for participants ages 11 and above. Beth Robles of Play Crafts PH will conduct the workshops that will focus on landscape and seascape as art subjects. Each workshop will have a specific theme.

    The first workshop, Watercolor Basic Landscapes, will be on October 10, 2020.

    Participants will learn to create simple landscapes using soft and hard edges and light contrast techniques. Enrollment deadline is on October 5, 2020.

    Scheduled on October 24, 2020 is Autumn Landscapes. In this workshop, participants will be taught how to use the properties of watercolors to create a simple autumn landscape.

    They will also learn perspective, soft and hard edges and light contrast techniques.

    Enrollment deadline is October 19, 2020.

    Sea Corals, the third in the workshop series, is scheduled for November 14, 2020 with enrollment deadline on November 9, 2020. The last in the series is Sunset which will be held on November 28, 2020. Deadline of enrollment is November 23, 2020.

    Art kit containing materials that include watercolor paper, 4 types of brushes and water color paint set, masking fluid and magic eraser sponge is available at reasonable price. The workshop classes will be done via Zoom.
