    The world of whisky is a dichotomy. While it is steeped deeply in tradition, it is also home to mavericks who are willing to push the boundaries in pursuit of something different.

    Today, even the most traditional brands are taking steps to offer discerning clients something new to enjoy.

    Chivas Regal is one of the old guards in the whisky world and its 12-year-old blended scotch is a popular choice for whisky drinkers. However, the distillery is also willing to shake things up with the launch of the Chivas Extra 13 collection.

    The work of Chivas master blender Sandy Hyslop and his team, the new collection is more experimental in nature, with a variety of unique flavors and different finishes. The Extra 13 selection is aged an additional year and finished in select casks which give it a different dimension of flavor. The first 2 variants are now available in the Philippines, with additional variants coming in the near future.

    The Oloroso Sherry variant is matured in sherry casks, resulting in a sweet, fruity, and spicy whisky with notes of ripe pears in syrup, as well as vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, and almonds. Meanwhile, the American Rye variant is finished in ex-rye oak casks, giving notes of orange, milk chocolate, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg with a long, smooth finish.

    Not only are the flavors of Chivas Extra 13 bold and brave, but the bottles have also been designed to look extra striking and vibrant, exuding the line’s confidence in being different from the usual blended Scotch whisky.
