ORIGINALLY launched and scheduled for last year, ARIELLE AGASANG AKO AY FILIPINO: A Filipino Fashion Charity Gala and Tribute to the Most Influential Personalities of the Year 2020-2021 was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated the interconnected nature of our world and that no one is safe until everyone is safe. With developments easing up and improving, the awaited event was successfully relaunched recently at the Events Pavilion of 500 Shaw in Mandaluyong City.

As 2021 marks the start of a new decade, it is also an opportune time to give birth to a new yearly event that pays tribute to Filipino trailblazers and movers in their respective fields, all inspiring and influencing others to follow their lead.

“Ako ay Filipino” will be an annual benefit show honoring diverse and dynamic Filipinos – business and industry leaders, prominent public service officials, doctors and medical practitioners, entertainment personalities, filmmakers, musicians, sports figures and members of the diplomatic community, with exceptional talent, skills and selfless contributions in their respective fields to help society and uplift the lives of other people.

This year’s inaugural event will be held on April 24 at the Centennial Ballroom of The Manila Hotel and billed as “Arielle Agasang Ako ay Filipino: A Filipino Fashion Charity Gala & Tribute to the Most Influential Personalities of the Year 2020-2021.” The evening will commence with a red carpet walk and a heavy cocktail at 6:30 in the evening. This will be followed by the fashion show and awarding ceremony at 8:00. The show will feature the stunning haute couture collection of the country’s premier fashion designer – Arielle Agasang, accompanied by production numbers and entertainment from the country’s world-class performers and artists.

The recent press launch at 500 Shaw was a splendid show in itself and a sneak preview of what to look forward to come the inaugural night. More than 100 awardees, selected by a distinguished screening committee from different sectors of society, are lined up to be given tribute.

“Ako ay Filipino” aims to raise funds for the construction and improvement of the infrastructure, service facilities and other sacred spaces for the devotees of Our Lady of Assumption Parish in Lavezares, Northern Samar, the event’s chosen beneficiary for the year 2020-2021.

“Ako Ay Filipino is presented by Agasang A1 Entertainment Productions, founded no less by premier and celebrated international Filipino fashion designer Arielle Agasang whose creations have been featured on national and international fashion runways, television shows, magazines, newspapers and in various social media sites.

Possessing exceptional creativity and passion, Arielle Agasang is the first Filipino designer in the Philippine fashion industry to have held more than forty fashion shows/gala nights in a year on both the local and international stages.

Among the awardees are Senator Manny Pacquiao, Mayors Vico Sotto of Pasig and Isko Moreno of Manila, actors Lorna Tolentino and Alden Richards and pioneer world beauty queens Gemma Cruz Araneta, Gloria Diaz and Megan Young.
