GMA’s highly successful “I Can See You” returns for a second season this Monday, March 22.

Its premiere episode, “On My Way To You,” is about two individuals running from love – a bride who fled on her wedding day and a guy who was jilted at the altar.

Shaira Diaz portrays the role of runaway bride Raki Buena. “Gusto kong mapanood dito ng mga tao is ‘yung journey ni Raki after niyang maging runaway bride, kung bakit at ano talaga ‘yung naging rason ng pagtakbo niya. ‘Yung character kasi ni Raki, marami siyang imagination so gusto kong dalhin ‘yung audience sa ganoon. ‘Yung story ni Raki itself nakatulong siya sa akin so sana ma-feel din ng viewers ‘yung naramdaman ng character ko.”

Ruru is Jerrick Alfonso, the guy dumped on his wedding day. “This is the first time na gumawa ako ng ganitong klaseng role and it was very hard kasi sobrang iksi lang ng time namin dito. Kailangan ko agad ma-build ‘yung character ko and ‘yung chemistry namin ni Shai and ng iba pang cast. But I am very excited na mapanood ng viewers ito. To be honest, kinilig din ako doon sa ‘kawa’ scene naming dalawa,” he said.

Director Mark Reyes is aware of the pressure to attact viewers in this time when everyone is in their homes and glued to the scenes – whether computers, television or mobile devices. He assured viewers that “On My Way To You” is at par with the previous “I Can See You” episodes, which is available on Netflix, and also the current crop of shows readily available on the many streaming platforms.

“What I said to the set when we started is this will have multiple viewings,” said the director, “It will not just run eight days on GMA, GMA Pinoy TV or the YouTube channel of GMA, but it will be on Netflix that people have access to anytime. I mean whoever is subscribed to Netflix will get to see this. So I said there is no room for us to make errors – every small detail, every moment will be immortalized. So the repeat viewing is the challenge – that you make this as perfect, as clean and as flawless as possible.

“Maraming manonood dito and the level that you are competing with – I know that for a fact because I also produce for my own company and I know the givens that in one minute or two minutes they choose to watch you and if you don’t capture their interest in the first two minutes they go to another. So buti na lang in our script it was nice to set it up that it was the wedding of Raki and then suddenly you realize wow there’s a story here, she’s a runaway bride,” he continued.

“With the acting, with the shot, with the sets of accomplishments we have in this project, we’re all very excited. We know our series will be up to par with the rest that are out there,” he added.
