The films of veteran actors Nora Aunor, Phillip Salvador, Sylvia Sanchez and Jinggoy Estrada go against the movies of Coco Martin and Angelica Panganiban, Paulo Avelino and Janine Gutierrez, Xian Lim and Alex Gonzaga in the first Metro Manila Summer Film Festival.
After failing to make it to the December Metro Manila Film Festival, the Nora -Phillip family drama from director Joel Lamangan, “Isa Pang Bahaghari,” makes it to the lineup of entries to the first summer film fest.
“Isa Pang Bahaghari” is not the only family drama. It will face Maverick Films’ “Coming Home,” starring Estrada and Sanchez, under the direction of Adolf Alix, Jr.
Meanwhile, there are two entries that fall under the romantic categories. They are T-Rex Entertainment’s “Ngayon Kaya,” starring Paulo and Janine, with Prime Cruz at the helm and “Tagpuan,” starring Alfred Vargas, Shaina Magdayao and Iza Calzado, under Mac Alejandre and produced by Alternative Vision.
There are two rom-coms: ABS-CBN Productions’ “Love or Money,” starring Coco Martin and Angelica Panganiban, with director Mae Cruz-Alviar and TinCan, TEN17P and Viva Films’ “Love the Way U Lie,” starring Xian Lim and Alex Gonzaga, directed by RC delos Reyes.
Regal fields the only horror entry, “The Missing,” starring Joseph Marco and Ritz Azul and directed by Easy Ferrer, while Dingdong Dantes stars the action flick, Viva’s “A Hard Day,” a remake of a South Korean hit. It will have Lawrence Fajardo at the helm.
The lineup of summer MMFF entries will unreel in theaters on April 11, Black Saturday.
