MARIA Isabela Galeria, Sorsogon’s delegate for Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) 2020, has recovered from COVID-19 after a mandatory 2-week isolation in a quarantine facility, and has been active lately on social media in relation to the upcoming national pageant, including the latest web series challenge where the 51 contestants were required to post her picture in swimsuit near or on a body of water.

Pageant Watch has picked its top 5 in this challenge: Michele Gumabao of Quezon City, Isabela Galeria of Sorsogon, Pauline Amelinckx of Bohol, Alaiza Malinao of Davao, and Ysabella Ysmael of Parañaque.

MUP 2020 will hold its preliminaries and finals on stage in Baguio on October 23 and 25, respectively, with strict compliance to imposed health protocols.

This will be the first Miss Universe Philippines finals after dissociating last year from Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc., the organization that held the Miss Universe franchise for 56 years. The new organization is headed by national director Shamcey Supsup-Lee and creative director Jonad Gaffud.

For the finals night, under the assumption that the pageant will be held in a large venue as there will be no audiences allowed under the guidelines of Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) through health and safety protocols, the MUP organization projects less than 100 people will be needed, including the contestants, judges, and production team with social distancing implemented. Most production materials for the pageant will be pre-taped. The finals night will be made available to the public online via pay-for-view streaming. It will be aired by GMA 7.
