Rosanna Roces said some quarters have misjudged director Daryl Yap.
The actress, who stars in some of the writer-director’s controversial films like “Paglaki Ko, Gusto Kong Maging Pornstar” and “Revirginized” and his first “rantserye,” “Kung Pwede Lang,” was vehement in her defense of Yap, who has drawn flak for some tweets and his viral “VinCentiments” shorts on Facebook.
Mas malala pa nga tayo magkwentuhan,” she continued.
The veteran star said she got to talk to Yap’s folks who are from Olongapo City in Zambales, where the director established a theater group called SaWakas. Direk Daryl’s mom had known that her son was gifted so she urged the young Darryl to venture to Manila. But he never forgot his roots. SaWakas and its members continue to be part of the director’s journey, said Rosanna.
She said she and Yap shared the same “defense mechanism” when it comes to detractors.
Alam mo ‘yun? Kasi sa talaga lang, panahon niya ngayon. Isa lang masasabi ko sa mga bashers niya – you cannot argue with success.”
Playing one of Rosanna’s daughters in “Kung Pwede Lang” is Loren Mariñas, who attests to the director’s devotion to SaWakas. She is the original “Kung Pwede Lang” girl on VinCentiments and a fixture in the director’s viral videos and films. In the Vivamax Original eight-episode series, Loren is Penelope Panting, the youngest of three kids. Prince, the eldest, is played by Bob Jbeili and Precious, the middle child, is played by Carlyn Ocampo.
Veteran stars Dennis Padilla and Dexter Doria are also in the cast.
“Kung Pwede Lang” starts streaming on Abril 9 on Vivamax (web.vivamax.net). Vivamax app is on Google Play Store.
