ROBERTA Angela “Ro-An” Tamondong, 18, from San Pablo City, won the coveted crown of Miss Eco Teen International 2020 at PickAlbatros Resort, Hurghada, Egypt Saturday night (Sunday morning PH time).
Tamondong bested the field of 20 contestants worldwide, including runners-up from South Africa, the Netherlands, Egypt and Paraguay.
Ro-An, who is also the reigning Binibining Quezon City, Miss Bikini Philippines first runner-up, and Miss Teen Tourism Philippines first runner-up 2019, was also awarded the titles for Best National Costume and Best Eco Dress.
Coincidentally, San Pablo-based Filipino-Dutch beauty Danielle Isabelle Dolk, who represented the Netherlands and placed third, was Mutya ng San Pablo City 2018; she was succeeded by Tamondong the following year.
Ro-An was handpicked by Miss World Philippines Organization president Arnold Vegafria who is also the national director for the Miss Eco Teen Pageant.
Ro-An was accompanied to Egypt by designer Jhong Sudlong who headed her glam team.
Ro-An is the third Filipina to shine in an international beauty tilt in two weeks, after Miss Globe 2020 4th runner-up Rowee Lucero Sasuluya of Pulilan, Bulacan and Miss Earth Air 2020 Roxie Baeyens of Baguio City.
Ro-An, Roxie and Rowee all trained under Kagandahang Flores headed by Rodin Gilbert B. Flores.
