Pia ready to settle down

While waiting for his new project, with reportedly ace actress Charo Santos-Concio, Joshua Garcia has gone into business.

The actor is said to be gearing up for a Star Cinema film which will be an adaptation of a South Korean movie titled “Keys to the Heart.”

“Comedy-drama daw ang pelikula,” said Joshua. “At baka ‘Keys to the Heart’ na rind daw ang maging title, sabi ni director Olive Lamasan (currently ABS-CBN Films’ managing director).

“Hindi ko tiyak kung si direk Olive ang magdidirek. Ang tiyak, kasama ko si Zaijian (Jaranilla).”

In the meantime, Joshua is selling shrimps with friends Enchong Dee and Ria Atayde.

“The shrimps come from Palawig, Zambales. At mabili, ha,” Joshua remarked with a smile.

“And as both me and Ria have no background about entrepreneurship, so to speak, matiyaga kaming tinuturuan ni Enchong.

“Risky ang pinasok naming ito, mismong si Enchong ay sinabi sa amin. Pero ang importante, we are learning. At matiyaga kami ni Ria.

“Ang importante is for us to succeed. Baka ito nga ang key to being rich, like Enchong.”

Enchong has ventured into several businesses and has made a name as the “friendly budgetarian.”

Like sister Julia, Claudia Barreto is now a Viva artist.

A singer-composer, Claudia was with Erik Raymundo’s Cornerstone, Inc. for nearly four years.

“Pero, wala ngang masyadong nangyayari sa aking career,” lamented Claudia. “So, may nag-advise sa akin to join Viva Artist Agency. Bukod nga naman sa pagiging film outfit, they are also into recording and, more importantly, they produce concerts.

“And why don’t I try acting na rin daw?” she added.

Claudia, 21, is younger than Julia by two years.

“My ate supports me in my decision to join Viva,” Claudia said. “So does my dad (referring to Dennis Padilla, also a Viva star).”

Claudia and Julia’s mother is former actress Marjorie Barretto.

John Estrada admits he’s a Dolphy fan.

While growing up in Basilan, he and his family were regular viewers of Dolphy and Nida Blanca’s sitcom, “John En Marsha.”

“Kaya may ideya ako how long the sitcom lasted (from 1973 to 1990),” he related. “You can just imagine how excited I was when I got to know Tito Dolphy in person.

“Mabait kasi si Tito Dolphy at generous siya sa papuri,” he added. “Sobrang late ako one day when I bumped into him sa ABS-CBN. Binanggit niya sa akin na pinanonood niya ang ‘Palibahasa Lalaki’.”

“Palibhasa Lalaki” was John’s sitcom with friends Richard Gomez, Joey Marquez and Anjo Yllana.

It was show on ABS-CBN from March 1987 to November 1998, with Johnny Manahan at the helm.

Take note that both Richard and Joey became mayors. Joey was Paranaque mayor for three terms, while Richard is currently the mayor of Ormoc City.
