Actress Kim Chiu has been given a police escort following the shooting of her van in Quezon City on Monday, according to an ABS-CBN News report.
Chiu was obviously shaken by the incident, yet she immediately reported to shoot two scenes for her afternoon series, “Love Thy Woman.”
“Siguro adrenaline rush, taping tayo, magtrabaho tayo,” she said in her interview with ABS-CBN News reporter MJ Felipe.
She received a lot of praise from netizens for her professionalism and grace under pressure.
On Twitter, @kimsanity_ wrote: “Even after a near death experience, she went straight to her taping schedule to avoid delaying the whole production of #LoveThyWoman.”
Twitter user @HansunIlona also said, “Imagine having to start your day with this kind of incident but you managed to go to work like it didn’t happen. My gosh, Kim Chiu… total respect Hundred points symbol
Colleagues of the actress also sent messages of concern and expressed their relief that Kim is safe.
Kris Aquino said, “To one of the most consistently caring, thoughtful, and kindhearted people I have ever met and gotten close to, you have our enduring love and nonstop prayers for your safety and peace of mind and heart.”
ABS-CBN News reporter Mario Dumaual got on Twitter to say, “Angels brought you here.”
Comedienne Pokwang wrote, “OMG! Kimberly anak! Ingat anak ko, Dios kop o ano na ba nangyayari sa mundo? Anak ingat ha at magdasal lagi tuwing lalabas ng bahay. Hay Lord salamat at okay lang ka’yo ‘nak.”
Her rumored boyfriend, “Love Thy Woman” co-star Xian Lim, posted a black photo on his Instagram account with the caption: “Thank you to everyone who expressed their prayers and concern. We can never explain why these horrible things happen. Thankfully there are no casualties. Thank you God for always being by our side.”
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN released a statement Monday afternoon on the shooting incident.
“ABS-CBN condemns the shooting incident this morning involving the vehicle carrying its artist Kim Chiu, her personal assistant, and her driver in Quezon City.
“The network is relieved that none of them got hurt and is taking measures to ensure their safety. Our priority now is attending to their needs as they cope with this traumatic experience.
“ABS-CBN would like to thank the authorities for quickly responding to the incident and securing Kim and her companions.
“We are currently working closely with the authorities who are investigating the incident in the hope that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.”
On Instagram, Kim said she was asleep when she was startled by the sound of gunshots.
She wrote on Instagram: “I don’t have an idea what really happened, mistaken identity? I guess?? Napag tripan?”
