VETERAN actress Gloria Romero has resumed her appearance as the lola in GMA’s award-winning program, “Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko.”
The beloved actress had to take a break from the show due to health reasons. She was experiencing severe migraine and was told by her doctor that she needs to be confined at the hospital.
Now, she is back to work.
“But we are not taking any chances,” said a Kapuso executive. “We are taping the show in her residence.”
Gloria, who turned 87 on December 16, started her career as a Sampaguita actress in 1955. Her first big break was the movie “Dalagang Ilocana.” She was married to the late Juancho Gutierrez.
The legendary couple had one daughter, Maritess, who gave them one grandson, former actor Christopher Gutierrez.
Estranged couple Pops Fernandez and Martin Nievera mounted several successful shows in the US last year.
They also spent the holidays in US with their family. They celebrated Christmas with their sons, Robin and Ram and Martin’s son, Santino. Present also was Katrina Ojeda, Santino’s mom.
It was one of the most beautiful Christmases for Martin, who wrote about it in his social media account. Pops was also thankful for the memorable Christmas celebration.
Now the ex-couple are back in the Philippines and preparing for their series of shows, “Two-gether Again,” at The Theater at Solaire.
Viewers of “Starla” are wondering why the show is ending so soon.
“Kung kailan nga kasi nagkakaroon ng impact ‘yung values na gustong ipasulat sa manonood, tulad ng hope, pagpapatawad at pagmamamahal, lalo na sa pamilya, saka naman magtatapos ito,” some commented.
“Nakakabitin tuloy,” they added.
At the show’s press con, lead actress Judy Ann Santos explained why they are bowing out:
“Pang-one season lang talaga ang ‘Starla.’ When I agreed to do ‘Starla,’ klaro ito, as I told them that I was committed to do two major projects this new year.
“I myself asked why the series had to end soon lalo pa nga at panalo kami sa ratings.”
“Starla” is written by Dindo Perez and directed by Onat Diaz, Jerome Pobocan and Darnel Villaflor.
Judy Ann is reportedly set to do a project with Coco Martin this year.
“Usapan namin ito ni Coco,” the actress related, “When I agreed to do a few special episodes in his top action series, ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.’ Itong gagawin naming project, soon, we are both keeping our fingers crossed, will be our first major team-up. Kaya kahit ang asawa ko (Ryan Agoncillo), excited sa project na ito.”
New mom Solenn Heussaff and husband Nico Bolzico are obviously smitten by their daughter, Thylane Katana.
Solenn, who gave birth via Caesarean section on January 1, is breastfeeding the baby. This might mean it may take a while before she resumes her showbiz career.
Thylane Katana’s baptism has yet to be announced, but it is expected to be a big affair.
Anne Curtis and husband Erwan Heussaff are said to be preparing for their own baby’s delivery in March. Anne is getting tips from Solenn, Erwan’s sister.
JC Santos’ non-showbiz girlfriend is eight months pregnant.
The “Miracle in Cell No. 7” actor seems excited about being a first-time dad. He, however, did not discuss this at the blowout tendered by Viva Films and co-producer Aga Muhlach for their top-grossing Metro Manila Film Festival entry.
At the party, JC mentioned his new movie with Bela Padilla, titled “Vodka, Beers and Regrets,” which Irene Villamor will direct.
The film, a production of Viva Entertainment, will be released on February 5.
JC and Bela were first featured together in the successful PPP entry, “100 Tula Para Kay Stella.” This was followed by “The Day After Valentine’s.”
“Hope ko that one day soon, Bela will direct me in a movie,” said JC.
Bela has already expressed her desire to work behind the cameras. She has already written a number of story and scripts, which have been filmed.
Viva big boss Vic del Rosario has promised to give Bela the opportunity to direct one of these days.
