She’s an Urian and FAMAS best actress winner, but she remains a fan. Janine Gutierrez admits to saying yes to TBA Studios’ “Dito at Doon” even without seeing the script because it’s been her dream to work with director JP Habac of “I’m Drunk, I Love You” and “Gaya sa Pelikula” fame and also her leading man, JC Santos.
“First of all, dream kong talagang makatrabaho si JC Santos, as in pinapanood ko talaga ang mga movie niya, as in dinadayo ko sa sinehan ‘yan,” she confessed at the movie’s Zoom con on Friday, “Kahit nung tinatanong ako before, sino ang pangarap mong maka work, si JC talaga.
“And then nasa bucketlist ko naman sa mga directors si Direk JP Habac. Totoo talaga. I love his work. Palaging may bago. Parang per project may iba talagang elemento so alam ko dito sa ‘Dito at Doon’ may bago rin so I really want to be a part of this project.”
“Dito at Doon” is Len (Janine) and Caloy’s (JC) love story set during the pandemic.
In an Instagram post, JC said it’s not an easy film to make, but his leading lady made it a breeze.
“@janinegutierrez, ang hirap ng pelikula natin na ‘to pero naging magaan ang lahat ng proseso dahil ikaw ang kaeksena ko. Salamat sa iyong generosity at openness! This is our second time working together at sana marami pa tayo magawang magagandang pelikula mahirap man o madali. Break a leg sa mga susunod mo pang projects. Hanggang sa susunod na pagkukwento. Good work, kapatid.
“DESERVE NIYA ANG GAWAD URIAN AT FAMAS BEST ACTRESS!” he added in all caps.
She also called JC, who was also part of her movie “Babae at Baril,” “amazing” and said she learned a lot from working with him.
“I think JC is so amazing. Sobrang sarap niyang katrabaho ang dami kong natutunan sa kanya and I can say, he’s really one of the best actors of our generation.”
TBA Studios president Vicente Nebrida has high hopes for the movie which they plan to release “Dito at Doon” in cinemas in March.
“It’s perfect to start the year,” said Nebrida, “It’s set in the time of the pandemic and the kind of entertainment we are looking for and the kind of film TBA comes out with – intelligent entertainment. We’re very excited.”
