Jane reacts to report linking her to RK

‘Basta ako, I’m satisfied po sa blessings na dumarating sa life and career ko ngayon and I’m happy with ‘ Gen Z’ – Jane Oineza’

JANE Oineza is one Kapamilya star who’s a favorite of Regal. She has done several movies with them and is now in their new TV series on TV5 and Cignal, “Gen Z.” At its Zoom press con, Jane was asked if it’s true she’s now playing beautiful music with RK Bagatsing, who was her leading in her recent series, “I Got You,” also shown on TV5.

They’ve been linked since they were first paired in the TV series “Araw Gabi” three years ago. Recently, they were seen in photos taken in Lake Caliraya’s floating cottage and their pictures posted on social media certainly speak a thousand words. They look like they spent the weekend together in that resort.

Jane lets out a hearty laugh before making a reply. “All I can say is what you see is what you get po, ‘yun na po ‘yun,” she said. “But let’s not talk about RK kasi, in all fairness, he’s not part of ‘Gen Z.’ Basta ako, I’m satisfied po sa blessings na dumarating sa life and career ko ngayon and I’m happy with ‘Gen Z’ and in my role as Matet, a misunderstood young woman.”

For her, “Gen Z” is an eye-opening show to help people understand the plight of today’s young people. She shares topbilling with Jerome Ponce, Chie Filomeno, Darwin Yu, Ricci Rivero, Kent Gonzales and Melizza Jimenez. “The parents and folks of young people today will surely understand them better, where they are coming from, if they would just watch ‘Gen Z’ on TV5,” she added.

Ruru Madrid and Shaira Diaz are paired in the second season of GMA-7’s “I Can See You” that starts on Monday. It’s common knowledge that Ruru’s special someone is Bianca Umali and Shaira has been on with Edgar Allan Guzman for some time now. But GMA-7 is obviously unfazed by this.

After pairing Ruru and Shaira for about a week in GMA News Channel’s “The Lost Recipe,” they are now together again in the episode titled “On My Way to You” of GMA’s hit drama anthology “I Can See You,” whose first season was well received. Does Ruru believe viewers will still support their tandem even if everyone already knows that they are committed to somebody else in real life?

“I think at this point, mas aware na ang mga tao na trabaho lang namin ito,” he says. “Our job is to entertain people with the shows we do. Basta kami, ibinubuhos namin ang dugo’t pawis namin at lahat ng aming mga emosyon para mapaganda ang bawat eksena and I think people will see that sa performance namin ni Shaira.”

So how would he describe working with Shaira?

“Friends na kami ni Shaira even before, kasi si EA (Edgar Allan), friend ko na rin noon pa when we were still doing ‘Sunday Pinasaya.’ But we never expected na ipagpapareha pala kami ng GMA.

“Masayang katrabaho si Shaira kasi she’s kalog, natural comedian, very professional, magaang katrabaho.”

In “On My Way to You,” he and Arra San Agustin are supposed to be married but she dumps him then he meets Shaira.

“First time ko to do this kind of role at kailangang ma-build up ko muna ang character ko and then ang chemistry namin ni Shaira. Never pa akong tumakbo from a relationship, but dito, ako ang tinakbuhan. So inisip ko na lang kung ano ang feelings ng isang taong iniwan ng love niya.”

Is he happy with his career and his love life right now?

“Yes, I can say that I’m very happy, tuloy-tuloy ang projects ko at happy ako sa taong nag-iinspire sa’kin sa buhay ko. We always need an inspiration para pagbutihin natin ang trabaho natin.”

Jaya is happy to be now part of the digital show “Grateful Tuesdays.” She’ll be a co-host of Pinky Tobiano and singer Zephanie this Tuesday in the show’s third season. Their first telecast will be held in El Nido, Palawan. Jaya narrated in the show’s Zoom press con that she and her family went through some trials last year that prompted her to return to the US.

“When the lockdown started in March of last year, I just came from a tour and hindi kami makalabas ng bahay,” she said. “So grabe ang anxiety ko. I was sad, afraid, depressed. I didn’t notice na hindi ako kumakain nang tama and I lost weight. Tapos, nagkasakit ang husband ko (Gary Gotidoc) and ‘yun pala, na-stroke na.”

Her feelings of anxiety got worse. “At the back of my mind, I was asking, anong nangyayari? Nakakulong kami sa bahay, walang work, may sakit pa husband ko, paano na our kids? Tapos natatakot kang baka yun namang mga anak mo ang magkasakit. So nagpa-panic na ako, but it’s good we have our faith.”

They sold some properties to buy tickets for the US. trip. “Nagkaroon ng sale sa tickets.

Napakamura. God really had better plans, so Gary and my stepson were able to leave last January 7. In 22 hours after their arrival there, they were able to find a good job and a home to rent na ang laki-laki at ang ganda-ganda. Sabi ko nga, baka pwede naming bilihin someday, pero hindi naman daw binebenta. Pero hindi naman kami aalis agad-agad, lalo na kasisimula ko lang sa ‘Grateful Tuesdays’.”

How does it feel hosting “Grateful Tuesdays” with Pinky Tobiano and Zephanie? “We all belong to the same management team, Cornerstone, kaya maganda ang camaraderie namin as hosts dahil magkakaibigan kami talaga. On camera, I hope maging maganda ang batuhan namin, ang banter. Of course, humor will always be there, ‘yung kulitan, importante ‘yan.”

Don’t miss “Grateful Tuesdays” every Tuesday at 7 p.m., on the Cornerstone Entertainment Channel on YouTube and the FB page of Cornerstone and Pinky herself.
