    It was meant to be, said Kathryn Bernardo of her successful partnership with Daniel Padilla.

    “Kasi we did not actually know each other,” the actress recalled. “I had just appeared in ‘Mara Clara’ with Julia when I was immediately assigned to do a youth-oriented show, ‘Growing Up.’

    “Someone in the production suggested I be given a leading man – for a change. I play a volleyball player, and they paired me with a teammate, played by Daniel.”

    Then they did the series, “Princess and I,” which reunited Kathryn and Daniel. Enrique Gil and Khalil Ramos were also in the cast.

    “Para daw tatlo ang manliligaw ko,” said Kathryn.

    “I end up with Daniel in the series. And from then on, we were paired in one project after

    another,” she further said.

    Their first movie, the rom-com “Must Be…Love,” was released in 2013. This was followed by

    “She’s Dating a Gangster” (2014) and “Barcelona: A Love Untold” (2016).

    Their biggest hit was “The Hows of Us” (2018), which grossed more than P800 million in its whole run.

    Asked what they share, the lovebirds say they have a love for travelling.

    So far, according to them, they have been to several favorite destinations in the country: Boracay, El Nido and Balesin Island.

    Kathryn marked her 23rd birthday in Palawan last year.

    On March 24, she will be turning 24.

    Kathryn and Daniel have also traveled abroad. They have been to Japan, Vietnam, and Hong Kong. They also have gone on a US Tour. They have explored the Napa Valley together and seen the Golden Gate Bridge.

    It will soon be a busy month for the lovers as they are currently preparing for their reunion movie, “After Forever,” under the direction of Cathy Garcia.

    The sweethearts have been together for over six years.

    Matteo Guidicelli is back on the movie set.

    After tying the knot with long-time girlfriend Sarah Geronimo, Matteo has resumed shooting his first action-fantasy movie, “Pedro Penduko,” which has Jason Paul Laxamana at the helm.

    Wonder if it’s true that Nadine Lustre will be Matteo’s leading lady. It will be recalled that Jamed Reid, Nadine’s ex, was the first one assigned to play Pedro Penduko.

    Aside from Matteo, Pedro Penduko has Empoy Marquez and Devon Seron in the cast.
    Pedro Penduko was first made into a film in 1974. It starred Ramon Zamora.

    In 2006, Matt Evans played the title role in the ABS-CBN series, “Da Adventures of Pedro Penduko.”

    The komiks hero was created by Francisco Coching, National Artist for Visual Arts (2014).

    Though Alex Gonzaga and long-time boyfriend, Lipa City Councilor Mikee Morada, are now engaged, she doubts if they will wed this year.

    She admits Mikee is just waiting for her signal, and she thinks her parents, Mommy Pinty and Daddy Bonoy, and her Ate Toni Gonzaga, are all excited for her to settle down. But the 32-year-old celebrity explains, she has never been so busy. Aside from being a successful vlogger, she has three shows: “The Voice Kids,” “I Can See Your Voice,” and the sitcom, “Home Sweetie Home.”

    “Papa Piolo (Pascual), that’s who,” Alex said with a naughty smile.

    Kim Chiu no longer wants to talk about the traumatic incident that she and her two companions experienced last week.

    But she wants to know who was responsible for the shooting incident.

    “At sana matauhan sila kung bakit nila iyon ginawa,” said the actress. “Hanggang ngayon, kahit may police escort ako, nanginginig pa rin ako.”

    Kim said she is grateful to ABS-CBN for helping her uncover the truth about the attack. Her home network also condemned the shooting in a statement released last week.

    Meanwhile, it’s back to work for Kim, whose ongoing series, “Love Thy Woman,” is always trending on social media. Kim is joined by Christopher de Leon, Xian Lim, Yam Concepcion, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Sunshine Cruz, Ruffa Gutierrez and Eula Valdez in the family drama.

    “I want to thank them for their kindness and sympathy. And love,” she said, “Sana ang nangyaring ito sa akin ay hindi nila maranasan at ng kahit sino pa man, involved man sa showbiz o hindi.”
