Ian welcomes return to comedy

‘I’m at home in this genre. Bata pa ako when I played the son of Joey de Leon in “Joey and Son.” – Ian Veneracion’

I know I would enjoy doing ‘Oh My Dad,” said Ian Veneracion, referring to his new sitcom on TV5, where he plays the title role.

“I’m at home in this genre,” he added, smiling. “Bata pa ako when I played the son of Joey de Leon in ‘Joey and Son.’

“Napakagaling na comedian ni Joey – or should I still call him Tito Joey? Sobrang na-influence niya ako. And it was because of him that I had a happy childhood.”

It was when he grew up that Ian discovered music. It was his dad, an artist, who influenced him.

“He could play all kinds of instruments, including the piano and the violin,” said Ian, “When I got older, I got offers to act, which I appreciate as I got the chance to work with some of the best actresses, some younger than I am.”

He starred with several amazing performers, including Angelica Panganiban, Jodi Sta. Maria and Bea Alonzo.

“They are all professionals din,” said Ian, “Higit sa lahat, mababait.”

“Oh My Dad” is directed by Jeffrey Jeturian and is under Brightlight Productions, owned by Cong. Albee Benitez.

Former child actor Zaijian Jaranilla plays the lead in Star Cinema’s new movie, “Boyette, Not a Girl Yet.”

    His role?

    “Gay,” Zaijian replied.

This is, of course, not his first time to play a gay role. “Pero hindi ako bida dun, part ako ng barkada,” the 19-year-old actor clarified, “Dito sa ‘Boyette,’ ako ang bida.”

Years ago, Zaijian starred in two unforgettable series. He was in “May Bukas Pa,” where he played the child Santino who can see and converse with Jesus, and in “Lorenzo,” where he played Enzo.

Zaijian is joined by Iñigo Pascual, Maris Racal, Jairus Aquino and Dominic Ochoa in “Boyette.”

Another news about Zaijian is that he is in love.

“One year and one month na kaming mag-on,” said Zaijian. “And she is maganda at mabait.Siya ang itinuturing kong inspirasyon ko. Siya ang dahilan kung bakit kahit nag-a-artista ako. Gusto ko pa ring makatapos ng pag-a-aral. She is a student, too.”

Zaijian finished high school in Angelicum College. He is taking up an online course for college.
