COCO Martin’s new film with Angelica Panganiban, titled “Love or Money,” will be the Valentine offering of Star Cinema.
The film will have Mae Cruz-Alviar at the helm. This is Direk Mae’s second assignment for Star Cinema after her four-year hiatus last year.
“Four years ding nawala si Direk Mae sa showbiz dahil sa America kasi sila namirmihan ng kanyang asawa, after their wedding,” related a kibitzer.
“She and her husband were former high school classmates. Nagka-ibigan. But then, the man left for the US and got married to someone else.
“He was single again when he returned home four years ago. He wooed Direk Mae when he found out na single pa siya.
“Then, they left for the US, hoping that Direk Mae will in time, have a baby of their own. Her husband had children with his previous wife,” our source continued.
For her comeback movie of sorts, Star Cinema assigned her “Unbreakable,” which featured Angelica, Bea Alonzo, Ian Veneracion and Richard Gutierrez.
“Im sure I will have fun working with Angelica anew. Magaan siya katrabaho. Mabait pa,” said the director.
It will be her first time to work with Coco, and she has heard a lot of good things about him.
“But what excites me about working with him is that, I heard he is a director, too,” said Direk Mae, “This is my first time to direct a fellow director in a movie.”
She added that she has seen Coco in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” and knows he is a good actor.
“Madrasta” actor Juancho Triviño and fiancé, Joyce Pring, had their pre-nup pictorial in Siargao.
The two got engaged last August while they were in Boracay for a vacation.
“Ewan, pero may kakaibang charm sa akin ang lugar na may malawak na dagat,” said Juancho. “Kaya puwedeng maganap ang kasal namin ni Joyce sa beach. I know she will agree to that.”
And when is the wedding? someone asked Juancho.
“This year, definitely. Gusto kong magka pamilya habang bata pa,” he replied.
Juancho and Joyce are both 26 years old.
Yeng Constantino was with husband Victor “Yan” Asuncion in Thailand that was why she did not personally receive her best supporting actress trophy at the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2019 Awards Night last year.
She won for her performance in the MMFF 2019 entry, “Write About Love.”
“Kaya inggit nga raw siya kay Joem (Bascon), who was her partner in ‘Write About Love’ and who won best supporting actor, as he was present to receive his trophy,” a source said.
Yeng hopes to receive acting offers after her win. She might consider to do more, but not at the expense of her music career.
“My being a singer will remain my priority,” she said. “And don’t forget that I compose songs, too, not just for me but for other singers, too.”
This 2020, she and Yan have another priority: to have a baby.
Vlogger Crisha Uy, Joem’s ex, considers his decision to break up with her as her most painful experience.
They were together for eight years and were even engaged to get married. What could have triggered the breakup?
Crisha refuses to hazard a guess, but some think Joem has fallen for his ex, Meryl Soriano, who were together in the MMFF entry, “Culion,” and also in the just defunct series, “Starla.”
“Ten years since Joem and I broke up, I focused not only on my career but also on my only son, Elijah,” said Meryll. “Kaya, at this point in time, falling in love is the least of my priority.”
Elijah is Meryll’s son with former husband, Bernard Palanca.
Meryll’s parents are host-actor Willie Revillame and Bec Bec Soriano, who is the younger sister of Maricel Soriano. Bec Bec now lives in Tokyo with her Japanese husband.
Friends of Joem think that, like Meryll, the actor is not inclined to enter a new relationship now. As Joem tells them, he wants to be free from any romantic involvement right now.
For how long?
“Si Joem lang ang nakakasagot niyan,” they say.
Joem is 33 years old.
While waiting for her first movie with Coco Martin, Judy Ann Santos said she wants to focus on being a wife to Ryan Agoncillo and mom to their three kids.
Doing a new series after the just-concluded “Starla” is not in her plans.
“Mahirap mapantayan ang nadama ko habang ginagawa ko ang ‘Starla’,” the actress said.
“I not only became friends with everyone involved in the series, but I also feel in love with the story. ‘Yung puwede kang humiling kay ‘Starla’ ng kahit ano kapag maganda ang layunin.”
