Sylvia Sanchez had a “quarantine birthday” on Tuesday, May 19 in their home in Quezon City.
A video posted on Sylvia’s Instagram account showed her family members surprising her with cake and greeting her happy birthday. It was a relatively simple 49th birthday for the award-winning actress, who has just recovered from COVID-19. She and her husband, Art Atayde, tested positive for COVID-19 in March. They stayed in the hospital for more than a month before being declared free of the virus in the middle of April.
Reflecting on the recent events in her life, the actress wrote the following on Instagram: “So grateful I was still blessed enough to celebrate my life today. Although the situation we are [in] isn’t ideal, I know that there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel. Just have faith. Thank you to everyone who sent their love and light towards me today. Through these trying times, I wish all of you safety and good health. Happy Quarantine birthday to me!”
Sylvia, who is currently part of the online talk show “Pamilya Kuwentuhan,” featuring the cast of “Pamilya Ko,” was also inundated by a lot of well wishes from fans and friends, including Rhea Anicoche-Tan, Beautéderm president and CEO.
Rhea got Sylvia to be “The Face of Beautederm” two years ago but the two ladies’ relationship has gone beyond owner and endorser.
They are not just friends, Rhea said.
“Di lang ako nagkaroon ng endorser…nagkaroon ako ng kapatid, ng ate,” Rhea shared in her post on Facebook. “Napakaswerte ko. At habang tumatagal, mas lalo kang napapamahal sa akin at sa pamilya ko.
“Maraming salamat, Ate Jo (for Jojo Campo Atayde, Sylvia’s name),” she continued. “Gusto kong malaman mo, isa ka sa pinakamagandang blessing na natanggap ko sa buhay ko.”
Just recently, Rhea affirmed Beautederm’s trust in Sylvia with the renewal of the latter’s contract, in time for the top skin care company’s launch of a new line of all-natural products, which Sylvia also endorses.
“She’s like a sister to me. I cried when she and Kuya Art tested positive for Covid-19 and I, along with the entire Beautéderm family are overjoyed they survived,” Rhea said, “Ate Sylvia is an ideal brand ambassador as she does her responsibilities with all her heart.”
The new Beautederm line that Sylvia endorses is composed of Beauté L’ Tous, Beauté L’ Cheveux, and Beauté L’ Elixir Skin Set. The all-natural line addresses the demand for natural beauty movement products as studies have shown that 60% of what is applied on the skin are absorbed by the body. Cosmetics-users could acquire an annual absorption rate of 5 pounds worth of chemicals. Thus, end-users are transitioning to natural beauty products.
Beauté L’ Tous is a natural whitening hand and body lotion safe for all to use, while Beauté L’ Cheveux is a natural hair oil that tames unruly tresses without the weight of synthetic silicone.
Beauté L’ Elixir, an all-natural skin set with acne buster properties made with nature’s best ingredients, consists of a refining toner, sunblock primer, and night fix créme perfect for all skin types; good for both adults and tweens; and safe for pregnant and lactating mothers.
“We worked hard for a year to develop our new products. We use only the most powerful ingredients to produce quality results exceeding the effectiveness of synthetic mainstream products,” said Anicoche-Tan.
The focus on safe and natural ingredients is in tune with Sylvia’s new advocacy – healthy living.
“At my age, I’m wearing less make-up and Beauté L’ Elixir is perfect for me. I also love the berry scent of Beauté L’ Tous, and I don’t have to blow-dry my hair with Beauté L’ Cheveux,” she related. “I’m mindful of the products I use and this all-natural line is helping me with the healthy living I’m now advocating.”
All products under the Beautederm label are FDA-notified, and the company employed a manufacturing process that is a game changer in the industry.
“We only use the most powerful and effective natural ingredients,” related Rhea, “We respect their integrity through cold process manufacturing that preserves their potency.
Aside from being a proud Beautederm endorser, Sylvia is also proud of the owner of Beautederm for having a generous heart and helping frontliners, medical workers and other citizens affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Rhea has quietly donated countless care packages with soaps, balms, alcohol, hand sanitizers, masks, shields and personal protective equipment. She has been tireless and thoughtful in helping people with food, goods and money since the start of the pandemic.
“Rei Rei’s good heart and generosity inspires me as she is helping countless people during these difficult times,” said Sylvia.
