Because lockdown seemed to have inspired a lot of people to become more romantic, “The House Arrest of Us” leads Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo were asked about their plan to take their relationship to the next level.

Are they ready to follow in the footsteps of their recently-engaged friends, Patrick Sugui and Aeriel Garcia? People are especially curious Daniel has always been vocal that they want to wait for five years before thinking of marriage.

Kathryn said they are excited for their friends and are focused on their role as bridesmaid and groomsman.

“Chill muna tayo. May mga kaibigan kaming engaged. Duty namin maging best bridesmaid and groomsman muna. Like what DJ said kanina, iba-iba tayo ng timing lahat. Kami siguro komportable kami na bago tumalon sa ganyang klaseng buhay, kailangan ready kami. Ayaw namin na masira ‘yung relationship just because hindi kami ready pareho,” reasoned the actress.

Kathryn added that it’s one of the important lessons she’s learned while making their hit “The Hows of Us.“

“Kailangan pareho kayong ready and ‘yung pamilya namin ready. Baka mahimatay si mama and Tita Karla kapag biglang sinurprise namin sila. Huwag tayo magpa-pressure just because nag-propose sila, dapat kami na din.”

The couple maintained they’re committed to each other.

“Perfect siya for me because una, I always say this, she makes me a better person.

Hindi ako perfect, hindi rin siya perfect and alam naman namin ‘yun,” said Kathryn, “Pero ‘yun ‘yung nakaka-excite ‘di ba? Kaya nga masaya siya, kung anong adventure man itong pinasok namin, ilang taon na pero hanggang ngayon nandito pa rin kami because it’s worth it.”

When it comes to cohabitating, DJ said they are not yet ready for that.

Magpapakasal muna kami,” he said.

So in the meantime, fans can just content themselves seeing the lovebirds together in “The House Arrest of Us” – that just might have a season 2.

“Siguro ‘House to House Arrest. ‘ Dine-develop na sa mga kuwentuhan namin. Tinitingnan namin ang mga possibilities, puwedeng out of the country, sa season 3 siguro ‘yan. Out of town muna ‘yung season 2. The House Arrest of Us’,” said director Richard Arellano.

And the new season might see KathNiel’s characters, Q and Korics, having their own family.

“The House Arrest of Us” airs every Saturday, 2 p.m. on KTX.ph and 9 p.m. on iWantTFC and TFC IPTV
