Angelica rejects proposal of MTRCB to regulate streaming channels

‘Bukas pag gising natin, North Korea na ito. – Angelica Panganiban’

ANGELICA Panganiban leads industry denizens who quickly rejected the proposal of the MTRCB to regulate streaming channels like Netflix. Many directors, writers and producers also strongly expressed their resistance over the idea.

In her social media account, this is what Angelica wrote: “Grabe na. Pati streaming gusto nang pakialaman. Papatayin niyo na talaga ang industriya. Inuna niyo ang free TV. Bukas pag gising natin, North Korea na ito. Tinatamaan ba kayo? Kasi masyadong malapit sa totoong buhay ang napapanood niyo?”

A director said this is just a ploy of MTRCB to gain back the revenue that they lost since there is no more movie industry now because of the lockdown. Many netizens feel that the MTRCB is now actually outdated because modern technology has overtaken it through the years. They cannot cope anymore with streaming, YouTube, the internet, which are all just quite impossible to monitor.

As one netizen wrote: “The internet has made censorship obsolete. It’s now so easy to access even porn online and it’s available to everyone as there are so many sites for all kind of sexual orientations! Producers no longer produce sex movies because why would viewers pay to watch them in theaters when they can now watch X rated films for free. Has there been a noticeable rise in sex crimes since porn has become so prevalent since the advent of the internet?”

And another netizen wrote: “The laws for censorship were made decades ago, when the world was young and more innocent. They should scrap it now as it has become useless and only a burden for industry people who are already so burdened and crying from so many problems including onerous taxes.”

What do Ricky Davao, Ian Veneracion, Leandro Muñoz and Kaye Brosas have in common?

They all have daughters who came out of the closet and became transmen, just like Ice Seguerra and Jake Xyrus!

When Ricky learned his daughter Rikki Mae (his second child with former wife Jackielou Blanco) is a transman, he accepted it right away.

“Nagulat lang ako, pero hindi nagalit,” he said. “The bottomline is still respect. Magulang ako. I’m just very supportive kung anuman ang gusto niyang gawin.”

Ian’s daughter is named Deidre and she was 16 when she confided to her dad that she likes other girls. She’s saying sorry, but he told her: “It’s okay. Don’t be apologetic about it, not even to me. You can be whoever you want to be you’ll have my full support.”

K Brosas said her daughter Crystal came out when she was in high school and she told her child: “Anak, kahit ano ka pa, kahit halamang dagat ka, mamahalin kita.”

In GMA Artist Center recent online show, “Just In” hosted by Paolo Contis, Leandro said his daughter Cheska came out to him when she was 16 years old and he supported her (now him) all the way. She’s now known as Frankie.

Leandro tells Paolo: “At 16, she’s crying, sabi niya I need help, maybe from a psychiatrist. I asked why and it’s because attracted daw siya sa same sex. I told her ‘There’s nothing wrong with you. If that’s what makes you happy, then, go with what you feel.’ My point here is kailangan talaga i-support natin what makes our children happy. After she told me about it, hindi na siya nasa closet, hindi na siya nagtago. He came out. Now he’s 26 years old and a transman. He’s very happy. My message to everyone, kung meron kayong anak na who’s trying to come out, just support. Give your 100 percent support.”

Lotlot de Leon was being bashed by Noranians for admitting she’s not yet in good terms with Ate Guy. Lotlot herself has obviously lost her patience and posted her own feelings in Facebook:

“This has been going on for years. Sa totoo lang para akong natulala, parang

pinagkakaisahan ako. But now, there’s something new. Minura ako. (P. ina) I don’t know how or when this started. All my life, kahit nung bata pa ako, natatawag na akong ‘ampon’ or ‘ampon ni Nora.’ But my parents never made me feel otherwise. The others, yes.

“May pagkakataon pa nga na si Ian (Nora’s only real child) pwede kumain ng delata nung bata kami na nasa cabinet. ‘Yung nag-aalaga kay Ian sabi, ‘Sa kanya lang ‘yun.’ Kahit hindi ko naiintindihan I would just nod and say, ‘yes po.’ Kahit sa school may mga nambubully.

Kadalasan I would just walk away.

Did we have an easy life?

We have never been the ‘typical’ kind of family. I have tried my best all these years to be a good daughter. Wala akong hindi sinubukang gawin. Alam ng Dios yan. Minsan gusto ko ipaliwanag sa lahat kung ano nga ba kami, pero hindi ko rin mapaliwanag. Ang alam ko lang mahal ko siya. At cguro kahit nga ipaliwanag ko hindi pa rin maiintindihan.”

Lotlot vowed to reveal more about her mom in her YouTube channel.
