“The Clash” returns for its second season on September 21.

This time, the singing contest will be have Rayver Cruz and Julie Anne San Jose as hosts and introduce Ken Chan and Rita Daniela as journey hosts. Returning to the judges’ table are Ai Ai de las Alas, Christian Bautista and Lani Misalucha.

Ai Ai, Christian and Lani do admit that being solely responsible for the fate of a contestant is indeed a big task, but they feel that having made the right decision with Golden Cañedo, the first season’s winner, they are on the right track.

It’s not from hubris, as the three are highly accomplished in their field. Lani a powerhouse singer and is recognized here and abroad for her musical artistry and vocal prowess. She was dubbed as “New Siren of the Strip” during her stint in Las Vegas and also remains a sought-after performer.

Christian is “Asia’s Romantic Balladeer” with hits in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. He has filled venues big and small and also, like Lani, remains in demand as a performer.

Ai Ai, meanwhile, is an award-winning actress and “Comedy Queen.” Like her colleagues, she has filled several concert venues and performed worldwide. She has also several blockbuster hits, and to this day, is a dynamic performer and screen actress.

To those who doubt their credibility as singing contest judges, Ai Ai said, “Well, ‘yung mga nagawa namin sa industry, modesty aside, may bilang pa rin ‘yun,”

“Ang sinasabi ko naman dun sa mga nagsasabing talo naman ako, anong ginagawa ko dito, ang importante sa akin ay kung ano ginawa ko after. Nagtrabaho pa rin ako, I worked my manager, with the best producers, directors, actors. I looked for projects here and abroad at ngayon nakaabot pa rin ako bilang judge,” said Christian.

“That’s the past, hindi pwdeng tumingin lagi dun, kailangan tumingin sa future. ’Yun din ang advice ko sa mga natatanggal. Keep on doing a good job, pero may point din sabihin mo maybe this is not for me. Baka mas magaling kang IT guy, pero do your best first,” he continued.
