Daily rotational water service interruptions of Maynilad Water Services Inc. will be extended by five days or until November 29 to finish cleanup at one its three basins of sludge.
The interruptions will continue to affect 70 percent of Maynilad’s customers or around one million service accounts.
“The removal of the sludge in the third basin was not expected to take longer compared to the first two basins. In our latest estimates, it would require additional five days to be completed as well as to increase our water production and fill our reservoirs,” Maynilad said in a statement
The interruptions were supposed to end yesterday, November 24.
Select barangays in Manila, Pasay, Paranaque, Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Quezon City, Makati, Muntinlupa Las Pinas, Caloocan, Noveleta, Valenzuela, Cavite City, Malabon, Navotas are affected.
Maynilad said it continues to deploy water tankers to in affected customers.
The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System-Regulatory Office has ordered Maynilad to explain the water service interruptions and non-adherence to its announced water service interruption schedules.
