Promoting sustainability, supporting livelihood for the women of Biñan

Making the case for sustainable livelihood. Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) employees learned how to weave enviromentally-friendly baskets using dried water hyacinths from the women of Binan City during its recent immersion organized by the BPI Foundation and BPI Sustainability Office. Through the organization Go Forward Biñan Foundation Inc., underprivileged women, commonly referred as nanays, earn an additional income and find a sustainable way of living by making handicrafts.

The exposure trip was done in partnership with the Laguna-based group of BPI BAYAN (Bayanihan Para Sa Inang Bayan), the volunteerism program of BPI Foundation, which gives employees a platform to participate in volunteer work for projects they organize themselves.
