The Department of Agriculture said the implementation of Executive Order (EO) No. 124 that places a 60-day price cap on pork and chicken products in Metro Manila will be moved to February 8 to allow industry players to adjust.
This is despite the publication yesterday of the EO in the Official Gazette last February 1 which should have signalled the implementation also on that day.
In a statement, the DA said it is coordinating with the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Interior and Local Government, Metro Manila Development Authority and Metro Manila Council member-cities and municipalities on the implementation of the EO.
“These include publication and announcement of EO 124 in all media platforms; printing of tarps to be displayed in all public and supermarkets in Metro Manila; and conduct of coordinative meetings with respective local price coordinating councils in Metro Manila,” the statement said.
The EO is yet to be published in the Official Gazette which should have signalled its implementation.
The price caps on kasim and pigue is P270 per kilogram (kg); on liempo, P300 per kg. and; dressed chicken, P160 per kg.
