PH takes on role in global energy body

The Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) said the country will benefit from Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Alfonso Cusi’s new role as member of the Global Commission for Urgent Action on Energy Efficiency.

Alexander Ablaza, PE2 president, said in a letter to the DOE Cusi’s participation in the commission which currently has 23 members composed of national leaders, current and former ministers, top business executives and global thought leaders, will allow the country to show leadership and committed actions in transforming the energy efficiency market through policy measures and other market reforms.

“The country’s successful passage of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act and the DOE’s recent approval of its implementing rules and regulations, send not only an effective market signal to all energy end-users and prospective investors in the Philippines, but just as well provide beaming inspiration for other economies to emulate under a broader global call for immediate scale-up action,” Ablaza said.
