West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. has completed the replacement of 133 kilometers of old and leaky pipes last year with a project cost of over P1 billion
In a statement, Maynilad said the pipe replacement was meant to improve water pressure and service reliability as they were done in portions of Quezon City, Caloocan, Valenzuela, Navotas, Manila, Pasay, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Bacoor, Cavite and Imus.
“Despite quarantine restrictions, we pursued our pipe replacement projects so we can sustain service level enhancements for our customers. At the same time, it enabled us to continue generating much-needed jobs for our contractors and suppliers,” said Ramoncito Fernandez, Maynilad president and chief executive officer.
Since 2007 when it bagged the concession, Maynilad has replaced almost 2,700 kilometers of old pipelines, renewing around 67 percent of the pipe network it inherited from the government.
