Isuzu PH donates D-MAX pick-up to Caritas Manila

    ISUZU Philippines Corporation (IPC) continues its steadfast support to Caritas Manila, one of the country’s most recognized and longest-running Catholic relief, development, and social service organizations.

    In a simple ceremony held last October 29 in the Caritas Manila grounds in Pandacan, Manila, IPC officials, led by its President Hajime Koso, turned over one unit of Isuzu D-MAX to representatives of Caritas Manila, led by Rev. Fr. Antonio Pascual. Also present during the event is Isuzu Gencars Chairman D. Edgard A. Cabangon, whose family has been a constant supporter of the organization.

    Aside from the donation of the Isuzu D-MAX, Caritas Manila has also been one of the chosen beneficiaries of IPC’s “Kasama Mo” campaign aimed to help the country stop the spread of the CoViD-19 pandemic.

    The organization had also received sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) from IPC’s customers and stakeholders last July 10 and October 1. IPC’s efforts reflect the company’s true spirit of being “Your Responsible Partner”, as it continues to reach out and extend assistance to members of society who need it the most, especially during these challenging times.

    The durable, powerful, and efficient Isuzu D-MAX is seen to be invaluable for the day-to-day operations of Caritas Manila which would greatly help them with their logistics and transportation needs.     ACE, WCA strengthen joint commitment to clean coal technology

    The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and the World Coal Association (WCA) have recently signed a three-year MOU under the new leadership of both organizations, in recognition of the strategic importance of the ASEAN region.

    The signing builds on previous collaboration between the ACE and the WCA, demonstrating both parties’ ongoing commitment to advocating for economic growth and the enabling role of clean coal technologies in providing access to clean, reliable, and affordable energy for developing countries across the ASEAN region.

    ACE is an intergovernmental organization which represents the 10 ASEAN member states’ interests in the sustainable energy sector; the WCA represents responsible global industry players who are committed to shaping a sustainable future for coal.

    Dr. Nuki Agya Utama, ACE executive director, citing coal as an important ASEAN resource said that “there is a need for ASEAN to secure the financial support and promote policies to accelerate the deployment of CCT in the region.” He added, “Under the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC), coal and clean coal technology is one of the programme areas, which aims to address the growing energy demand and promote environmental sustainability.”

    Michelle Manook, WCA chief executive stated that as coal is a critical enabler in emerging economies this collaboration will help them promote opportunities and challenges for emerging economies in the region for a sustainable future through clean coal technologies.

    College of Our Lady Mt. Carmel partners with Globe

    College of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (COLMC)  has established a partnership with Globe as its internet provider and adopted its Learning Management System (LMS) known as Brightspace.

    This proactive approach in addressing the requirements of the new normal provides a flexible learning platform that will help address the academic needs of all the students enrolled in the school.

    Through the partnership, COLMC, as a part of the Mt. Carmel Group of Companies, acquired Brightspace LMS licenses, Zoom EDUC Pro licenses, and GSuite licenses. The tools and LMS provided will be helpful to teachers and students in flexible learning.     Grundfos  helps bring clean water to  Baseco

    Through the Grundfos Foundation’s Community Grant of P7.1 million, a community in Baseco will receive two water treatment systems to bring clean water, sustain education on proper sanitation and livelihood opportunities to this community.

    Grundfos Philippines together with non-profit organization, Asia Society for Social Improvement & Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST) will install these Grundfos systems, which are solar powered water-filtration units in Baseco. These two Grundfos systems can help provide up to 4,000 liters of clean water per hour and has a total production capacity of 96,000 liters per day; enabling more than 4,000 locals per day to receive safe water for drinking and hand washing.

    This initiative will also open opportunities for social enterprises through a community cooperative of water business and health-related livelihood such as soap-making led by the Kabalikat sa Pag-unlad ng Baseco People’s Organization. Net proceeds from these activities will also sustain information campaigns such as regular WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) trainings and distribution of informative materials within the community. Grundfos and ASSIST employees will also be engaged in the trainings and events as community volunteers.

     A ceremony to kick-start this initiative was held on October 29 at Baseco and was attended by representatives from the community, Grundfos Philippines and ASSIST. Both Grundfos Philippines and ASSIST are also working on scaling up this initiative, by installing few more water purification systems in Baseco along with other partners.
