Union Bank adds new locations for fully digital bank branch
Union Bank of the Philippines has added nine new locations for The ARK, the country’s first fully digital bank branch, bringing the total number of said branches to 50 since the introduction of the first ARK three years ago.
First unveiled back in September 2017, The ARK introduced pioneering features that changed the way people looked at banking, leveraging technology to address the typical inconveniences associated with visiting a bank branch such as long queues, excessive waiting times, and repetitive forms.
The newly transformed branches are located in Novaliches Gulod, Commonwealth, Visayas Congressional, Shaw-Pasig and Medical Center Paranaque in Metro Manila, and Tagbilaran, Cebu IT Park, Bacolod North Mandalagan and Bacolod Lacson in Visayas, making UnionBank’s on-premise innovations accessible to more customers across the country.
The ARK’s modular design allows easy reconfiguration of the branch to comply with social distancing requirements with floor stickers, digital health checklist posters with QR code for contact tracing in all branches.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Monday paid tribute to the perseverance and sacrifices of the city’s frontliners and other workers, saying their hard work was instrumental in gaining significant ground in the fight against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The city government passed five supplemental budgets and reprogrammed funding worth over P12 billion, the lion’s share of which was utilized to provide financial assistance to residents affected by the pandemic. Through its Kalingang QC program, the City gave P2,000 to each of 607,000 citizens, consisting of PUV drivers, vendors, senior citizens, PWDs, solo parents, lactating mothers, displaced daily wage earners, and other vulnerable sectors.
Belmonte added that the QC Social Amelioration Program has aided more than 177,000 qualified families that were not covered by the SAP of the national government.
Around P700 million has been earmarked for the Kalingang QC sa Negosyo Wage Relief Program for micro and small enterprises to ensure that jobs and livelihood are protected.
The City also entered into partnerships with Lalamove, Grab, Esetgo and Foodpanda to provide employment as food as logistic drivers and food delivery riders to around 1,135 jeepney and tricycle drivers.
