Jollibee opens 3rd cloud kitchen

Jollibee Foods Corp. is beefing up its delivery service globally, this time via a cloud kitchen operation in Singapore, its third facility overseas.

The unmarked food production and delivery hubs without any dine-in facility, located in what the company said is a “discreet and lower rent urban location” in Tampines, Singapore was opened yesterday and will cater to the company’s flagship brand Jollibee.

“The opening of Jollibee Singapore’s inaugural cloud kitchen comes as demand for its food delivery continues to grow significantly. The business contribution of Jollibee Singapore’s Delivery has more than quadrupled compared to last year – from 10 percent in 2019 to 45 percent in 2020,” it said.

“As cloud kitchens roll out, we will be able to reach more consumers and fulfill more orders.

The Jollibee Group is able to expand more quickly and cost-efficiently through this innovative store model, while maintaining the same safety and quality standards of our food,” said Ernesto Tanmantiong, Jollibee chief executive officer.

Jollibee Group opened its first cloud kitchen in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in March, followed by a similar facility in Chicago’s bustling River North neighborhood, both for the Jollibee brand. Jollibee said the UAE facility “continues to outperform targets” while the US facility was also well-received.

Cloud kitchens are part of the Jollibee Group’s overall transformation strategy to adapt to new customer habits and meet the continued strong demand for delivery amid the pandemic,” the company said.
