Some 11,000 qualified domestic tourists will enjoy 50 percent discount on RT-PCR testing to boost the local tourism industry.
The Department of Tourism (DOT), through the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines, yesterday signed an agreement with the University of the Philippines- Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) to subsidize 50 percent of the P 1,800 RT-PCR (real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) testing cost administered by PGH.
The P10-million subsidy project from TPB’s Safe Bangon Turismo campaign will stimulate domestic travel to destinations declared safe by the Inter-agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases I and DOT such as Palawan, Boracay, Bohol, Baguio, and Ilocos Norte.
The program was initiated to aid about 11,000 qualified domestic tourists in getting an RT-PCR test as a requirement to visit their destination of choice.
To avail of the test’s subsidy, the tourist must register at TPB’s official website.
