Globe Telecom Inc. has started its network upgrades in eight key cities in Visayas and Mindanao to improve calls and broadband services in the areas.
Network activities are scheduled in Davao City, Cagayan de Oro City, Cebu City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Bacolod City, Iloilo City, and Boracay in Aklan from September until the end of this year, Globe said.
The upgrade of existing infrastructure in VisMin involves building new cellsites and adding more 4G/Long Term Evolution technologies to increase data capacity and improve internet speeds.
“We are adding capacity throughout the country to serve the increasing data demand of our customers and continuously improving network service quality. Our teams are out there deploying new technologies, new equipment as we heed the call of the nation for better data connectivity,” said Ernest Cu, Globe president and chief executive officer.
However, customers in the affected areas may experience temporary disruption in their mobile and broadband data services during this period, Globe said.
