Globe boosts 4G in 13 regions

Globe Telecom Inc. has been improving its mobile data service in 13 out of 17 regions in the country, according to the latest report of Ookla, the global leader in internet testing and analysis.

Ookla verified that Globe has the most consistent fourth generation (4G) network in 13 out of 17 regions based on this year’s third quarter data.

These are in Bicol, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Caraga, Central Luzon, Central Visayas, Cordillera Administrative Region, Eastern Visayas, Ilocos Region, Mimaropa, Northern Mindanao, Soccsksargen and the Zamboanga Peninsula.

Ookla’s quarterly data showed that in terms of mobile consistency score, Globe posted up to 64 percent consistency in these high population density areas, nearing the global benchmark of 70 percent consistency score.

Mobile consistency score measures the number of incidences (viewed as percentage) of a provider’s samples equal or exceed both a download threshold of 5 megabits per second (Mbps) and upload threshold of 1 Mbps.

Comparing download speeds between third quarter of 2019 and third quarter of 2020, Ookla data showed that Globe has a 12 percent higher mean download speed for all technologies and a 5 percent higher mean download speed for 4G/Long Term Evolution (LTE).
