DOE receives bid for dev’t of Zamboanga resource

The Department of Energy (DOE) through the Energy Resource Development Bureau received the nomination application from the PNOC-Exploration Corp. (PNOC-EC) to develop a coal resource area in Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay under the Philippine Conventional Energy Contracting Program (PCECP).

The PNOC-EC applications for coal blocks 42-I-1 and 42-I-2 passed the completeness check of the legal, technical and financial documentation requirements.

Further substantive evaluations will be made before they are endorsed to the review and evaluation committee.

The DOE is expediting all power and energy projects, including those being handled by the PCECP to help in the recovery of the economy after getting affected by the pandemic.

Under PCECP, interested investors oil, gas and coal resources can apply for service contracts via bidding for pre-determined areas by the DOE or by nominating their preferred areas that can be challenged by other developers. – J. Macapagal
