DITO on track of ’20 rollout


    Third telecom provider DITO Telecommunity Corp. is on track to start commercial operation by 2020 with full swing network infrastructure buildout across different parts of the country, the company said.

    DITO Telecommunity has committed to deliver on the first year of operation a minimum internet speed of 27 megabits per second with network coverage of 37 percent nationwide.

    DITO said it is fully on track for its year one commitments to provide faster, more affordable and secure internet connectivity in time for its 2020 launch.

    Adel Tamano, DITO Telecommunity chief administrative officer, said the company is building new synergies to ensure delivery of its commitments, one of which is the combined effect of working with the more than 12,000 consumer retail touchpoints that Udenna Corp. and its subsidiaries provide with its current network.

    Tamano said DITO has acquired more than 3,000 sites this year for infrastructure development and construction is fully underway.

    Since October , DITO has entered into agreements with various tower construction and key contractor companies like the LCS Group of Chavit Singson, China Energy Equipment Co. Ltd, Filipino-Malaysian Consortium ZEAL Power Construction & Development Corp., Leo Technologies Infrastructure Corp. and Alt-Global-Solutions Inc.

    DITO has tapped ABS-CBN Corp. subsidiary SkyCable to lease fiber resources to link tits entire telecom network.

    The data center of DITO is also very close to completion, according to Tamano.
