Coal plant suffers outage


    Aboitiz Power Corp. said unit 1 of the GNPower Mariveles Energy Center Ltd. Co. (GMEC) coal plant suffered an outage.

    The company said the facility located in Mariveles, Bataan is expected to be restored by the third quarter of the year. Damage was found in a portion of the boiler of the unit.

    In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, AboitizPower said GMEC’s insurance brokers and adjusters have been informed of the incident.

    GMEC is a private limited partnership established to undertake the development, construction, operation, and ownership of the 2×316 megawatts (MW) pulverized coal-fired power plant.

    It is jointly owned by AboitizPower through Therma Power Inc., ACE Mariveles Power Ltd. Co., a joint venture between AC Energy and Infrastructure Corp. and Power Partners Ltd. Co. and another stake from Power Partners.
