BPO sector to grow 5-7%

    The information technology-business process management (IT-BPM) industry is seen to grow 5 to 7 percent in 2021, according to Mike Lytle, chief operations officer of Teleperformance Philippines.

    The projection supports expansion activities of players such as Teleperformance as well as of Afni Inc.

    At the launch of Teleperformance’s 22nd facility in Bacoor City, Cavite on Tuesday, Lytle said the company expects to outperform the growth of the industry “adding multiple thousand employees” and capacity each year.”

    Lytle said Teleperformance will open at least one new location every 12 to 18 months nationwide with key priority for provincial locations.

    The company will open 2,000 additional full-time jobs at its newest site. It now has around 47,500 employees in over 30,000 workstations in 21 sites located in Metro Manila, Antipolo, Baguio, Cebu, Bacoor, Bacolod, Davao, and Cagayan De Oro.

    Meanwhile, US-based business process outsourcing company Afni on Tuesday opened
    its third active site in the Philippines on Tuesday, October 27 in Tower 5 of SM City Fairview in Quezon City.

    As part of Afni Philippines’ hub-and-spoke model, the new site has more than 500 seats combined across two production floors and support spaces; four training rooms; two conference rooms; a huddle room; plus, reception, waiting, breakout, and clinic areas. The company is now actively recruiting new hires who will be part of the initial client programs to be hosted on the new site.

    The Information and Business Processing Association of the Philippines has commissioned a new study with the aim of recalibrating its roadmap give the global economic fallout caused by the new coronavirus disease pandemic.

    The industry had aimed to grow 3 to 7 percent in headcount and 3.5 to 7.5 percent in revenues in 2021.

    In 2019, the IT-BPM sector ended with 1.3 million employees with revenues reaching $26.3 billion.
