The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is targeting to start partial operation in May of the Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge, a major component of the Bonifacio Global City (BGC)-Ortigas Road Link project.
Mark Villar, DPWH secretary, said the Sta Monica-Lawton Bridge, the superstructure that will connect across Pasig River the Lawton avenue in Makati City and Sta. Monica street in Pasig City, has been completed and will just need finishing works.
DPWH undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) operations Emil Sadain said the UPMO roads management cluster 1 is undertaking rehabilitation and widening works on Brixton corner Reliance streets to Fairlane Street in Mandaluyong City which form part of the project.
Also part of the project that will traverse Lawton avenue to the entrance of BGC is the Lawton avenue-BCG viaduct with ongoing preparation for bored piling at BGC and road widening at 8th avenue.
The 1.367 kilometer BGC-Ortigas Center link road project is part of the Metro Manila Logistics Network which will cut to 12 minutes the one-hour-long drive between the BGC and Ortigas business districts.
The entire project which will improve accessibility between cities of Pasig, Mandaluyong, Taguig and Makati and alleviate traffic congestion at EDSA and C-5 is targeted for full completion by September 2021.
