Motorcycle ride-hailing firm Angkas has partnered with the city government of Manila to provide free ride and shields for medical frontliners in six hospitals during the modified enhanced community quarantine.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso yesterday received the donation of Angkas shields from George Royeca, Angkas chief transport advocate, in a turnover held after the flag-raising ceremony. Angkas will also provide free rides to healthcare workers (HCWs) in six city district hospitals: Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, Ospital ng Maynila, Ospital ng Sampaloc, Ospital ng Tondo, Sta. Ana Hospital and Justice Jose Abad Santos Memorial Hospital.
Angkas bikers will be deployed to ensure that HCWs are brought home safe after their shifts.
The city of Manila has at least 1,000 health workers. To date, it has 5,179 cases of coronavirus infections, 3,690 instances of recovery and 236 deaths.
