The Philippine unit of Malaysia- based AirAsia Berhad is strengthening its digital services to recover from the impact of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
“We aim to be a new kind of travel tech company in the region through the strengths of our assets and access to talents,” said Tony Fernandes, Airasia Group chief executive officer, in a virtual press event.
Airasia introduced digital platform include airasia.com, financial services Big rewards and Teleport logistic and e-commerce and Santanm a food and beverage app.
Fernandes said Airasia is looking for local partners for logistics and e-commerce services.
AirAsia Philippines is optimistic to recover up to 60 percent of its pre-COVID levels of passenger traffic in the fourth quarter.
The airline sees confidence to travel will return by by next year, with the 140 percent increase in seats sold in August this year.
