Digital gov’t takes off with PayMaya’s cashless platform
Over 60 government agencies and units at both national and local levels – including the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Social Security System (SSS), Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Securities and Exchange Commission, Land Transportation Office), Bureau of Customs and the Department of Foreign Affairs – have chosen PayMaya’s platform to provide citizens and businesses with a safer and better way to pay taxes and fees.
With PayMaya enabling cashless acceptance for the government, Filipinos can enjoy a more inclusive way to pay via any credit, debit, prepaid card, or PayMaya QR — whether through physical locations or online. Those who choose to pay via PayMaya’s platforms also get to enjoy more rewards such as cashback each time they pay for government transactions.
The government also has tapped PayMaya to deliver financial aid to millions of unbanked Filipinos. To date, the digital financial services leader was able to distribute over P4.5 billion in assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development , SSS, DTI, Department of Agriculture, and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, among other agencies, directly to the PayMaya accounts of beneficiaries.
Through PayMaya Checkout, One by PayMaya, and PayMaya QR to the government agencies, PayMaya has also become the government’s disbursement channel for Social Amelioration Program, Small Business Wage Subsidy, and LTFRB’s assistance to affected drivers, among other programs.
Constituents of the cities of Batangas, Davao, Manila, Marikina, Paranaque, Ormoc, Taguig, and Valenzuela can now pay their local governments via card or QR through PayMaya’s cashless facilities. Various provinces, cities, and municipalities like Bataan Province, Caloocan City, Manila City, Mandaluyong City, Pasig City, Tarlac, and Quezon City are utilizing PayMaya’s disbursement platform for their citizen assistance programs.
Maynilad connects waterless community to network
West Zone concessionaire, Maynilad Water Services Inc. recently connected Purok Biyaya in Barangay 167 of Caloocan City to its water network, giving some 141 urban poor families access to safe and affordable water supply.
For almost 24 years, Purok Biyaya residents relied on expensive deliveries of deep well water from private water truck operators, as issues with land ownership and right-of-way clearance prevented Maynilad from connecting their community to its network.
Families in Purok Biyaya typically consume around 48 drums per month (or 10 cubic meters), so they used to spend around P1,920 a month just to have water for their household needs. Now that they have a Maynilad connection, their monthly spending for potable water has dropped to only P130 for the same volume of water.
Residents of Purok Biyaya like Ederlina dela Cruz expressed their happiness for what they consider a huge blessing to their community.
