CWC International Corporation, Herman Miller dealer partner in Manila, held the first ever “Aeron Hockey Match” last March 16 on 30th Street in Bonifacio Global City.

Aimed at creating an exciting and fun-filled experience to engage the local design community and enterprise to the half-day sporting event, CWC drew a big crowd that witnessed 8 teams participating, using the iconic Herman Miller Aeron chairs in a healthy, dynamic and fun team collaboration competition.

Herman Miller’s biggest-selling chair was groundbreaking when it was introduced in 1994.  Instead of foam and fabric, designers Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick engineered a seat of technical fabric called Pellicle, a breathable mesh material.

Aeron chair quickly became the best-selling performance chair of all time, with more than 7 million units sold in 134 countries. It has become a pop culture classic that is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.

The Aeron chair is a masterpiece that has been re-mastered recently allowing the user to stay cool with its new 8Z Pellicle technical fabric; sit comfortably with the seat and back’s latitudinal zones designed for support, stabilize and soften; mimic a healthful standing position with its adjustable individual back pads; and recline with complete control using an updated tilt mechanism.

Aeron hockey or office hockey was born with a hint at the act of throwing waste paper into a dozing colleague. The game has evolved since, played at a purpose-built court with players seated on iconic Herman Miller Aeron chairs.  Five players on each side equipped with a puck and hockey sticks wie for the lead on the scoreboard.

The Manila Aeron Hockey Games ended with Team Goude winning the championships and eventually awarded with 10 Aeron chairs as prize.  The awarding ceremonies, was hosted by no less than celebrity impresario Johnny Litton at the CWC Interiors right across the playing field.
