A FORMER member of the so-called “Angels of Death” of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) who is now in the custody of the PNP has corroborated testimonies of child abuse victims against pastor Apollo Quiboloy, police spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said yesterday.
“What we can confirm to you is, yes, we are in custody of an individual who said he is a former member of the Angels of Death,” Fajardo told a press briefing at Camp Crame but refused to reveal his identity.
She said that initial verifications made by the police confirmed that the individual was a former member of the KOJC.
“He himself said he was part of this group (Angels of Death) which was used in harassing and inflicting harm to individuals who are not following the orders of Apollo Quiboloy,” she also said.
Several child abuse victims of Quiboloy who recently came out in the open claimed they were raped by the pastor when they were at the young age of 12 to 13.
The PNP said that according to the victims and their families, they were threatened that the Angels of Death, the supposed private army of the televangelist, will hurt or come after them if they will reveal their ordeal to authorities.
Officials have earlier said that the private army was used to go after members of the KOJC who violate the religious group’s code of secrecy.
Fajardo said that the former supporter of Quiboloy “gave specific cases, but as of now we cannot give the details primarily to protect his security and of course, the security of his family.”
“He corroborated earlier reports that that this group is being used for the interest of Quiboloy and they were used to threatened victims (of Quiboloy),” she said.
She described the statements made by the ex-member as mere “allegations,” adding that it is up to the courts to decide if there is truth to his statement.
