TV5 is bringing back the famous prank show “Wow Mali” in a new and improved version called “Wow Mali: Doble Tama.”
The original “Wow Mali” was a big hit in the Philippines when it first aired in 1996. It was known for its funny hidden camera pranks and the clever hosting by Joey De Leon. Viewers lapped up the antics and the practical jokes performed on ordinary citizens and celebrities.
Now, the show is making a comeback with even more hilarious pranks and tricks. It will be hosted by the funny duo Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola. The new version will have lots of humor, crazy segments, but this time, there’s something special — a “pay it forward” part where people do good things for others.
Jose and Wally admitted they had misgivings when told that they will be the host of the new “Wow Mali” because of the nature of the show. Yes, the thought that they were being pranked entered their minds. So the two said they got the blessing of “E.A.T.” co-host Joey de Leon, and original “Wow Mali” prankster.
“Naisip na namin kasi baka niloloko kami ng mga ito. Alam nila gipit kami,” Jose said.
“Baka pina-prank,” Wally butted in.
“Dumirecho na kami kay Boss Joey kasi baka may wow mali, gi-nu-good time lang kami,” shared Jose.
There were no words of wisdom or advice, just conversations about life and career that were full of wisdom.
“Si Boss Joey hindi masyadong masalita. Yung TVJ (Tito and Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon), pag nagkwekwento kailangan pakinggan kasi sa kwentuhan may mapupulot ka, at the same time, yun yung mga binibigay nila sa inyo. Sorry ka na lang pag hindi mo naintindihan.
“Ganun din si Boss Joey nung sinabi nyang, ‘Basta kayo, OK ako.’ Kumbaga Yung tiwala nya sa amin [buo], kaya nagpapasalamat kami. Sana makaya namin,” said Jose.
“Wow Mali: Doble Tama” is made by APT Entertainment and Cignal TV for TV5. The show will start on August 26 and will be on TV5 at 6:15 p.m. and on Buko Channel at 7 p.m. every Saturday.
