Television and movie personality Vice Ganda has expressed his full support for the Angkasangga Partylist and its efforts to improve the lives of breadwinners, particularly those in the informal sector.
During a rally at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila, which was attended by over 4,000 people, Vice Ganda praised Angkasangga’s First Nominee, George Royeca, who is also the CEO of Angkas. He commended Royeca for his dedication to advocating for and protecting the rights of the nation’s workers.
“Sa dami ng pinagdaanan ninyo sa pagsuporta sa pamilya niyo, kailangan niyo ng kasangga na proproteksyunan at susuportahan kayo. At ‘yan ang 107 Angkasangga,” Vice Ganda said, referencing his own experience in his hit film And the Breadwinner is.
Royeca, in return, reaffirmed his commitment to improving the lives of Manila’s breadwinners through his congressional campaign, particularly by securing additional government benefits for them.
“Kahit hindi pormal na empleyado, basta breadwinner, dapat may benepisyo mula sa gobyerno. ‘Yan ang sisiguraduhin nating maisabatas,” he stated.
In addition to advocating for the welfare of breadwinners, Angkasangga also aims to address pressing issues such as public transportation, job creation, and worker protection.
Vice Ganda’s recent film has been a box-office success at the Metro Manila Film Festival. At a special screening of And the Breadwinner is at Gateway Mall in Quezon City, Vice Ganda invited former Vice President Leni Robredo, who attended the event.
After the screening, Vice Ganda compared his character to Robredo, calling her an unappreciated “breadwinner.” He shared, “Si Madam Leni, minsan din siyang naging breadwinner nating lahat. Ikaw yung breadwinner. Ang tingin ko sayo, ikaw din si Bambi,” referring to his character’s name in the film.
