Vice Ganda has officially endorsed Angkasangga Partylist, which advocates for the rights and recognition of gig and informal workers in the Philippines. The endorsement was announced on October 5, alongside George Royeca, CEO of Angkas, who is leading the partylist.
Angkasangga Partylist focuses on improving the conditions of informal workers, including gig workers in various industries, such as entertainment. The partylist seeks to highlight the contributions of these workers to the national economy and promote initiatives that secure their future.
Vice Ganda’s endorsement is seen as a boost for the partylist, as the “It’s Showtime” host’s influence extends across multiple communities, including the LGBTQ+ and entertainment sectors. Vice expressed support for Royeca’s vision to elevate the status of gig workers and ensure they receive appropriate recognition, benefits, and protection.
Royeca and Angkas have previously implemented systems to support gig workers, and through Angkasangga Partylist, they aim to bring these efforts to a national platform. Royeca’s goal is to ensure that the informal sector’s contributions are acknowledged and that workers receive the benefits they are entitled to.
Vice Ganda said, “I stand with George Royeca and Angkasangga Partylist because I believe in their vision and commitment to the informal sector and gig workers. Together, we can improve the lives of many Filipinos who rely on gig work for their livelihood.”
