‘Lolong,’ ‘Gabi ng Lagim’ and election specials

In celebration of GMA’s 75th anniversary, GMA Public Affairs is launching a range of exciting programs for 2025, timed with the upcoming elections.

The network’s new offerings focus on impactful stories that resonate with Filipinos and highlight the potential for positive change.

Ruru Madrid returns as the hero Lolong in the highly anticipated second season of “Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan,” premiering on January 20. In this new season, Lolong embarks on a dangerous journey to recover a powerful gem to save his people after a tragedy strikes.

Jillian Ward stars in her first primetime rom-com, “My Ilonggo Girl,” where she plays an ordinary Ilongga who unexpectedly becomes the doppelganger of a missing celebrity. The series premieres on January 13.

Also returning is “MAKA” for its second season, continuing the coming-of-age story of teens navigating love and family at a new school. Additionally, GMA will launch “Beauty Empire,” an international co-production that delves into the world of powerful women in the beauty industry.

As the 2025 elections approach, GMA Public Affairs and GMA Integrated News will present “Tanong ng Bayan: The Senatorial Face-Off,” a special that will feature a discussion with senatorial candidates on key national issues, moderated by Jessica Soho, airing in January. To mark her 40th anniversary in journalism, Jessica Soho’s most iconic stories will be featured in a special airing in February, showcasing her groundbreaking reports throughout the years. In “Philippine Defenders,” Matteo Guidicelli honors the country’s soldiers and defense personnel by joining them on missions to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty. This series will air in March 2025.

In cinema, GMA Public Affairs will release two major films in 2025 — “KMJS’ Gabi ng Lagim,” a horror film inspired by real-life stories and “P77,” starring Barbie Forteza and Euwenn Mikaell, a supernatural thriller that tackles issues of urban housing, set to be released in the summer.

GMA will also release “58th,” an animated feature about the Maguindanao Massacre, focusing on Reynaldo Momay, the 58th victim whose body was never found.
