The Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) is launching a special initiative for individuals or groups aged 18 to 35.
Spearheaded by the federation’s newly elected president, Victor Lim, the FFCCCII announced a TikTok video competition last Thursday at the 86-year-old Kamuning Bakery.
The contest is part of the celebration marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and China, according to Lim, who is also the owner of VECO Paper Corporation and president of various trade associations including the Philippine Stationeries Association, the Alliance of Paper Traders Association, and the Philippine School Pads and Notebooks Manufacturers Association.
“This is your chance to celebrate our shared history through creativity. Let your TikTok videos inspire unity and showcase the vibrant future of Philippine-China relations,” said Lim.
Videos should run for 1 to 2 minutes, be in portrait orientation, submitted in MP4 format, and center on key milestones in the 50-year diplomatic relationship between the two countries.
Everyone is encouraged to participate — whether you’re a celebrity, influencer, or an ordinary TikTok user. Prizes include ₱100,000 for the grand winner, ₱50,000 for second place, and ₱30,000 for third. Ten consolation prizes of ₱10,000 each will also be given, along with three special citations worth ₱20,000 each.
“It’s a meaningful project that hopefully a lot of young Filipinos will join,” said Peter Mangasing and Jayzon Sze, co-chairs of the FFCCCII Youth Committee.
Also present at the Pandesal Forum were youth committee vice chairs Jeffrey Lim and Ian Cheng.
The deadline for submission is May 27, and the winners will be announced on June 8, just a day before the official anniversary of diplomatic ties on June 9.
Meanwhile, Kamuning Bakery introduced Pan de Nora in honor of the late National Artist Nora Aunor, who passed away on April 16.
The Pan de Nora is a soft bread that some say tastes like a cross between pan de coco and Spanish bread. According to Kamuning Bakery owner and Nora Aunor fan Wilson Lee Flores, the idea was originally suggested by the late entertainment editor and former Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) president Isah Red, and further championed by Jun Lalin, entertainment editor of Abante and a member of SPEEd.
